Courses 1-4 are normally done on a Monthly basis on each Thursday of the month from 8.30am -12pm.
The cost of the 4 Child Care Courses are R1 900 or they can be done individually for R550 each.
This covers all the essential aspects of every day baby care
· Qualities of a child minder
· Telephone etiquette
· How to pick up and carry a baby correctly
· Cot safety and positioning a baby to sleep
· Personal hygiene
· Feeding hygiene
· Bottle Sterilization
· Making a formulae feed
· Nappy Changing procedure
· Teething and dental care
· The importance of a good routine
· Introduction to solids and the importance of a balanced diet
· Home safety and security
· Accident prevention
· Prevention of childhood poisoning and burns video
Infant and child CPR (practice on manikin)
Management of a baby and child choking
First Aid:
· Recognizing and helping a sick child
· How to manage a temperature
· How to make up re – hydration fluid for diarrhea and vomiting
Use of the First Aid kit in conjunction with the treatment of the following:
Burns
Bleeding
Fractures
Bee stings
Crush injuries
Concussion
Poisoning
Scrapes and Bruises etc
Activation of the Emergency Service
N.B HIV pre- employment testing or employment testing is not allowed by law in S.A.
HIV education is essential to ensure that the universal precautions are carried out at all times.
Group discussions including the following topics:
Pre and Post testing procedures
The importance of knowing ones status
Living positively with HIV
Protection against transmission of virus
Procedures in the domestic situation
One of the best ways to enhance your child’s development is to enhance his play
Your domestic will be taught the theory behind play
About normal developmental milestones from birth up
All about the senses and stimulation of the senses
They will also be taught about over stimulation
Lots of fun outside ideas
Lots of ideas with common household goods to play with
Given fun imaginative ideas to enhance play
Common household toys will be used to demonstrate
And most importantly your domestic will be given time to actually play with these toys so they can experience the joy of playing before being able to play with your child.
This course is run in the Summer months and is run on an as and when we have enough participants basis. The course includes:
Water Safety theory
Water Safety in the home
Water Safety outdoors
Orientation of the swimming pool
A dip in the pool to “demystify” the pool
Rescue from the pool without getting into the water

American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends which covers Adult, Child and Infant CPR and Choking.

Certificate of attendance is issued from South African Resuscitation Council
Courses are held twice a month in the evenings from 6pm-9pm
